Working process

while creating animation advertising video

A smooth-running working process with Partners is the key to the success of each project. In our studio it looks the following way:

1. Project timing and budgeting

We reconcile legal and financial aspects of the project, define the deadline and discuss the scope of work with the Customer.

2. Preparatory stage

As soon as the terms and financial aspect are reconciled, we immediately get down to preparing animation materials:
- discuss technical requirements of the video
- choose style and mood references for a future video
- develop a skript
- prepare a storyboard - consequitively disposed illustrated basic scenes of the video which have an explanatory text and the text for a voice over  (if it was provided in the skript)

A skript and a storyboard are closely connected and portray a future work as exactly as possible. They are extremely necessary to provide a solitary concept for the studio and the Customer. While implementation of the project they represent a confirmation document for both the parties.

- define the graphic style and draw the sketches of the characters

- reconcile a music reference and a voice over
- create a "gray" 3D model of the character basing on the sketch and make its setup for consequent animation

- create other 3D objects that are needed according to the skript

This is the basic reconcilement period. We try to take into account all wishes of our Partners, as far as introduction of changes at the following steps of productions is a much more difficult  and time-consuming task. Sometimes it can be almost impossible due to technical pequliarities of the animation process.

3. Production stage

We start making animation miracles. Nothing should bother our magicians animators therefore we leave them in peace for some time. At the same time a composer is also working hard on the first variant of music basing on the music reference chosen before.

Depending on the pequliarities of the project we sometimes reconcile an intermediate version of the animation - a playblust. We always warn our Partners: you will hardly see the beauty at this step, the animation may look clumsy, all the objects are gray, some of them  may be represented just conventionally as simple geometric figures, backgrounds are not even defined. With the help of a playblust we reconcile animation scenes, frame composition, general movement of objects and characters and video montage, then necessary corrections are applied.

4. Intermediate stage

After animation process is finished, subsequent polishing of the video takes place. All parts of the project are gathered together, their colour and material are being set up, the light scene, visualization and render process are being adjusted. The final step on the videolevel is compositing and montage editing.

On the level of sound editing voice over is recorded, intersounds are added and then the final version of the audio track is mixed.

As a result we get the first version of the final video - a preview.

On the level of a preview we reconcile colourcorrection, scene transition and make some small polishing corrections in the animation. We won't be able to apply crucial changes at this period, thus it is so important to thoroughly discuss all the details while preperatory period or in some cases on the level of a playblust.

5. Final stage

After having applied all the corrections we finally prepare a reliz version of the video and deliver it to our Partners, then sign closing documents and finish the project.

Depending on the project some stages may be abscent or appear - all the details you can always discuss with our managers.
